Canadian Community Newspaper Awards call for entries: December 5

Newspapers Canada will begin accepting entries for the 2012 Canadian Community Newspaper Awards on December 5.

On  April 29, publishers, editors and reporters from across the country came together to honour the very best in the community newspaper industry at the 2011 Canadian Community Newspaper Awards. 

The awards were presented during the awards gala, hosted by famed columnist Arthur Black, at the River Rock Casino Theatre in Richmond, BC. Yukon News topped the list of winners with six awards followed by the Whistler Question with four. Following the awards presentation each guest received a digital winners book to take home filled with inspiring entries from all of the finalists.

2011 Canadian Community Newspaper Awards finalists announced

Newspapers Canada is pleased to announce the finalists in the 2011 Canadian Community Newspaper Awards. With 28 community newspaper categories and four campus newspaper categories, the Canadian Community Newspaper Awards recognize the best in editorial, photography and overall excellence in community newspaper publishing.

This year, 250 newspapers submitted 2,363 entries this year from works published in 2010. Entries were reviewed by 72 peer judges.

Winners will be announced at the awards gala on Friday, April 29, at the annual Ink +BEYOND conference in Vancouver, BC. The complete winners list will be available on the Newspapers Canada website following the announcement. For more information and to purchase tickets visit www.inkandbeyond.ca.
